In 1983 Diane Mebust, a missionary serving in Ensenada, saw the great needs of the poor and she began doing what she could to alleviate their burdens. She started gathering clothing and food donations and then opened a small distribution center. Currently, Diane is our missionary emeritus living in the states.

In 1990 other concerned Christians helped her form a board of directors. In order to continue and expand the outreach they registered Ensenada Christian Ministries as a Nonprofit charitable 501(c) 3 organization in Washington State. We reorganized in 2020 & our official organization name is ECM Ministries, DBA Ensenada Christian Ministries.

We have two missions in BAJA California Mexico,
New Hope in Ensenada & Paradise Mission in Maneadero.

In early 2000 we started the “Fresh Start Scholarship Program” for students in the Ensenada area. The scholarship from our sponsors allows them to purchase uniforms, supplies, and tuition for older students to attend school. Our team travels to Mexico each August to administer the scholarship program donations to our families. The scholarships are for students at New Hope and Paradise Missions as well as two other children's ministries in Ensenada.
Our all-volunteer board is a combination of U.S. and Mexican teammates.
